The Social Key RULES

The Social Key Rules & Code of Conduct

Our Philosophy

The Social Key exists to create a private, comfortable and sophisticated environment where open-minded adults can meet, socialize and build genuine connections.

Our community is built around respect, discretion, consent and good judgment. We want every member—from someone attending their first lifestyle event to longtime members of the community—to feel welcome and comfortable.

Membership and attendance at any Social Key event constitutes agreement to these rules.

1. 21+ Only

All members and guests must be 21 years of age or older.

A valid government-issued photo ID may be required at check-in. The name on your registration must correspond with your identification.

Membership and event admission are always subject to approval by The Social Key.

2. Consent Is Required

Consent is the foundation of our community.

Never assume that flirting, conversation, dancing, previous interaction, membership in the lifestyle, or attendance at a Social Key event means someone is interested in physical contact.

Ask first.

If someone declines an invitation or interaction, accept the answer graciously and move on. Do not repeatedly ask, pressure, follow, corner or attempt to change someone's mind.

Consent can also be withdrawn at any time.

A previous yes is not a future yes.

Established lifestyle organizations similarly make explicit consent and immediate respect for "no" central rules of participation.

3. Social First

The Social Key is intentionally different from many traditional lifestyle parties.

Our events are designed around:

Cocktails • Conversation • Music • Dancing • Connection

Guests are encouraged to meet people, make friends, flirt, dance and enjoy the evening at whatever pace feels comfortable.

There is never an expectation to interact romantically or sexually with anyone simply because you attend an event.

4. No Nudity or On-Site Play

Unless an individual event is specifically advertised otherwise, Social Key events held at mainstream hotels, restaurants and event venues are social events only.

That means:

No nudity.
No sexual activity.
No sexual touching or play within the event space.

What consenting adults choose to do privately after an event is their own business and is not organized, supervised or facilitated by The Social Key.

5. Privacy Is Non-Negotiable

Discretion is one of the most important expectations of The Social Key.

You may meet neighbors, coworkers, clients, friends or other people you recognize. Their attendance is private.

Do not:

  • Tell others who attended an event.
  • Post another member's name, image or attendance publicly.
  • Screenshot or distribute private member profiles or conversations.
  • Share stories that identify another member without their permission.
  • "Out" another person as being involved in the lifestyle or ENM community.

You are welcome to talk about your own experience. You are not entitled to tell someone else's story.

Privacy and discretion are likewise treated as fundamental rules across established lifestyle organizations.

6. Photography & Phones

We understand that guests may need access to their phones during the evening. However, protecting member privacy comes first.

No unauthorized photography, video recording or livestreaming is permitted inside Social Key event spaces.

If an event includes an official photo area, photographs may be taken there only with the permission of everyone appearing in the image.

Never intentionally or accidentally photograph other guests in the background.

The Social Key may occasionally arrange professional event photography of décor, entertainment or consenting guests. Participation in photographs is always optional.

Strict camera policies are common at private lifestyle events specifically because of the privacy risk to attendees.

7. Respect Rejection

Not every connection will be mutual—and that's completely normal.

If someone isn't interested, simply be gracious and continue enjoying the evening.

No:

Pouting • arguing • persistent pursuit • unwanted messages • retaliation • hostility

A polite "no thank you" should be the end of the conversation about that particular invitation.

8. Alcohol & Intoxication

Enjoy yourself responsibly.

Guests who become excessively intoxicated, disruptive, aggressive or unable to respect personal boundaries may be refused entry or asked to leave.

Illegal drugs are not permitted.

The presence of alcohol never changes the expectations surrounding consent.

9. Respect the Venue

Our relationships with upscale hotels and event venues are important to the future of The Social Key.

Treat the property and its employees with respect.

Please remember that hotel lobbies, elevators, restaurants, hallways and other common areas may be shared with guests who are not attending our event. Appropriate clothing and conduct are required outside the private event space.

Do not involve hotel employees or unrelated hotel guests in the lifestyle aspect of the event.

10. Respect Our Staff

Social Key hosts, venue personnel and security are there to protect everyone's experience.

If a host or member of venue staff asks you to stop a behavior, relocate, lower your volume or otherwise comply with an event or venue rule, please do so immediately.

Disrespectful or abusive treatment of employees, security, bartenders, hotel staff or Social Key hosts will not be tolerated.

11. No Harassment or Predatory Behavior

Being outgoing is welcome. Being aggressive is not.

Behavior that may result in removal includes:

  • Unwanted touching
  • Repeated advances after being declined
  • Following someone who has attempted to disengage
  • Sexual comments directed at someone after they have expressed discomfort
  • Intimidation
  • Fighting or threats
  • Deliberately interfering with another couple or relationship
  • Retaliation against someone for declining an interaction
  • Making another guest feel unsafe

If something feels wrong, please tell a Social Key host or security team member.

12. Couples Are Responsible for Their Own Boundaries

Every relationship is different.

Discuss your own boundaries with your partner before the event. Other members should never be expected to know a couple's private rules.

The Social Key does not mediate relationship agreements between members.

13. No Solicitation

Social Key events are not a marketplace.

Solicitation for prostitution, paid sexual services, illegal drugs or other unlawful activities is strictly prohibited.

Unauthorized commercial solicitation, aggressive recruiting for unrelated businesses, or promotion of other events during a Social Key event may also result in removal.

14. Membership Does Not Guarantee Admission

The Social Key is a curated private community.

Membership, previous attendance or a referral from another member does not guarantee admission to every event.

Some events may have limited capacities or particular attendance formats. The Social Key reserves the right to approve, decline, suspend or revoke membership when necessary to maintain the quality, safety and atmosphere of the community.

15. Report Problems to Us

If another guest crosses a boundary or makes you uncomfortable, please tell a Social Key host or security team member.

You do not need to confront someone yourself.

Reports will be handled as discreetly as reasonably possible. Retaliating against someone for raising a concern is itself a violation of our rules.

16. Violations

Depending on severity, violations may result in:

A conversation or warning
Removal from the current event
Temporary suspension
Permanent loss of membership

Serious consent, harassment, violence or privacy violations may result in immediate removal and permanent membership revocation.

Guests removed for violating community rules should not expect a refund.

One Key Rule

Be the kind of person other members are glad they met.

Come ready to socialize. Respect people's boundaries. Protect their privacy. Have a drink. Have a conversation. Hit the dance floor. Make a connection.

Everything else starts there
